Scotland – Our Vision for the Future ‘Beyond 2020’ Draft Strategy, Revealed

The draft of Scotland’s future national tourism strategy has unlike Tourism Scotland 2020 (TS2020) been developed through an equal partnership approach with a range of stakeholders from industry, Scottish Government and our public agencies.

It is reflective of the changing world we live in, our new mindset and approach to how we live and work and represents a bold step forward in setting our industry on a path to delivering benefits to those who visit us, Scotland’s people, the communities within our destinations, local economies, our wider economy and indeed, all of our sectors.

At the beginning of October this draft was shared with around 450 industry delegates at the STA Annual Autumn Conference in Edinburgh, and then at the ASSC Conference on 29th October in Glasgow.

The draft vision, mission and the four key priority areas was revealed by Marc Crothall, Chair of the Strategy Steering Group.

The vision – Scotland. We will be the world leader in 21st century tourism.

The mission – Together we will grow the value and positively enhance the benefits of tourism across Scotland by delivering the very best for our visitors, our businesses, our people, our communities and our environment.

Key priorities – Our passionate people, our thriving places, our diverse businesses,  our memorable experiences. Each with a key aim, and set of outcomes.

We understand that not everyone could make it along to the conferences, so we recorded the initial announcement so that everyone with an interest in tourism has the opportunity to feed into the development of the future strategy.

This is a draft and it’s important that we continue to consult with all stakeholders over the coming months as we build the short, medium and longer term action plan to deliver this future strategy which we will officially launch on the 4th March at the national tourism conference in Glasgow.

Scottish Government Transient Visitor Levy Consultation – Briefing for ASSC Members

A survey across ASSC Members was conducted in September to help the ASSC to inform our own response to the Scottish Government consultation, and to advise members for their own individual responses to the consultation.

To assist with your response, we have prepared a short briefing which you can consult when submitting your answers to the Scottish Government. You do not have to answer all of the questions.

ASSC Tourist Tax Briefing Note

This is a hugely important subject, and it is important that our voice is heard as part of the design of a TVL – the time to get involved is now.

If you have not already done so, please take time to respond to this consultation.

Thank You.

The Scottish Government’s consultation is open until 2nd December 2019.
